A Hoseasons boating holiday in France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Holland or Ireland offers you more than just the freedom to travel at a speed that suits you, stopping where you choose and for as long as you like. You’ll discover a fully developed network of shops and inns wherever you choose to stop. And if you want to travel further afield on shore, you can arrange bicycle hire as part of your Hoseasons boating holiday package. Our friendly booking team can give you all the details, particularly of late availability options, weekend and last minute holidays.
Our quality rental self-drive cruisers or narrowboats are modern, reliable and very comfortable. All our boats are fitted out with everything you'd expect and more. Travel in Burgundy, Maine-Anjou, on the River Lot or Baiise, and you’ll be cruising through some of France’s most distinguished wine producing regions. And if you’re boating in Belgium, or travelling in the Alsace-Lorraine or Saarland border region between Germany and France, beer is a popular choice. In the South of France, waterways cross the Camargue, a magical nature reserve. Alternatively, the waterways of the Shannon and the Erne allow you to discover the delights of the Emerald Isle.
If you choose to go ashore for a meal, you’ll discover wonderful, often family-run, restaurants and inns providing delicious local specialities within easy walking distance of your mooring. And, of course, for fishing enthusiasts there is an unparalleled opportunity to combine the sport with providing an on board meal.
In the countryside, as well as a chance to see the acres of sun-ripened grapes in the carefully tended vineyards, you'll find you can actually visit the chateaux of the producers. You will be able to marvel at the giant presses, the tall fermenting vats and the cavernous cellars filled with rows of oaken casks in which each wine develops it's special character.
Your visit could finish with a tasting session and a chance to buy a case or two! You may prefer to combine a taste of the wines of the country with a selection of local gastronomic specialities. Wine-growing regions are particularly well provided with restaurants serving the perfect accompaniment to the local vintage.
Among the extensive networks of canals linking the rivers of France, one – the Canal du Rhone a Sete – connects the river with the ancient Mediterranean port of Sete. Stop here and you’ll find you are ideally placed for a day of sunbathing on the local beach.
Your freedom - your choice - our pleasure. You are welcome.
